Offense Stays Hot, Alvarez Stellar as Warriors Win Third Straight

TORRANCE, Calif. – The El Camino College offense remained potent and Daniel Alvarez had a solid outing on the mound as the Warriors scored their third straight win with an 11-2 South Coast Conference victory over Chaffey Thursday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The Warriors (13-9, 5-2) have now outscored their opponents 34-3 during the current three-game winning streak. Spencer Palmer and Cody Wissler each went 3-for-5 with Palmer scoring three times and launching a solo home run. Matthew Beserra was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI.

Alvarez picked up his fourth win of the season as he tossed eight innings and allowed just two runs on four hits. He walked two and struck out seven. Ricky Ramos tossed a scoreless ninth and recorded two strikeouts.

The Warriors fell behind in the third inning as the Panthers got an RBI groundout to open the scoring and then a second run came in on a wild pitch.

It took the Warriors an inning before responding in the fourth. Jordan Folgers led off the frame with an infield single and then Palmer followed with a single to center. Beserra stepped in and hammered a pitch over the left-center field wall for a three-run shot to put the Warriors out in front and they never looked back.

Jerry Granillo singled in a run later in the frame and Jose Ruiz Jr. would score on a passed ball to cap the scoring and put the Warriors up 5-2.

In the fifth, the Warriors put the game away as Wissler belted a two-run double to left-center. A sacrifice fly from Granillo made it 8-2 and then the Warriors scored again on an error by Chaffey to make it 9-2.

The Warriors tacked on a run on a Taishi Nakawake triple in the seventh and then another in the eighth on Palmer's fourth home run of the season.

The Warriors wrap up the week and the two-game series with Chaffey on the road this Saturday. First pitch is set for noon.
