TORRANCE, Calif. - Clarissa Chiquete threw a 2-hitter against Saddleback College on Monday afternoon as the Warriors defeated the Gauchos 8-0 in a 5-inning run rule victory.
Chiquete kept the Gauchos off the board as she only allowed two base hits, one walk, and one hit batsman. The Warriors (28-7) pounded out six hits against the Saddleback Gauchos (6-24).
Ashley Machado went 2-3 at the plate and had two RBIs and one run scored. Kassidy Robinson went 2-2 at the plate and had three RBIs and two runs scored. Robinson hit her team leading 8th home run of the season after an inside the park homerun in the Bottom of the 2nd inning. Diamond Lewis and Karla Calderon were the other Warriors to record a knock.
The Warriors scored two runs in the 2nd inning after an inside-the-park homerun by Kassidy Robinson. They added one run in the 3rd inning after Ashley Machado singled to left field. She stole 2nd and 3rd base before eventually scoring on a wild pitch.
In the fourth inning, the Warriors broke out to score five runs. Karla Calderon led the inning off with a triple to left center field. Kassidy Robinson drove her in with a double to center field. Jazmyn Sancen reached base via a hit by a pitch. Alena De La Torre hit into a fielder's choice and Robinson scored after a rundown situation between the 3B and C for Saddleback. Diamond Lewis hit a double down the left field line to bring in Sanchen. Machado then singled through the right side to bring home Lewis and De La Torre and to give the Warriors the commanding eight run lead.
El Camino College will play four more games this week. They play next on Tuesday on the road at Long Beach City College for an SCC conference game. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
