LONG BEACH, Calif. --- El Camino College beach volleyball head coach Elizabeth Hazell logged her first career South Coast Conference win on Friday with a 5-0 sweep over Rio Hondo at Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach, Calif.

Hazell was named the head coach of the ECC Beach Volleyball team in 2025 with 2026 being her first season at the helm. Hazell spent eight seasons as an assistant coach with the Warriors beach volleyball program beginning with the inception of the program in 2016.

Hazell also serves as head coach of the indoor women's volleyball program, a position she's held since 2017.

On Friday, the Warriors dominated the Roadrunners to record Hazell's first conference win and the team's first SCC victory this season. It was not an easy victory, however, as three of the matches required the full three sets to be decided.

The No. 1 duo of Taylor Puleri and Yasmin Watanabe secured the victory with a 15-8 decision in the third set. Arabella Ober and Laila Albaresh also required three frames to secure the win, taking the last set 15-10. Justine Sapitanan and Ava Ober recorded the only sweep of the day, winning the No. 3 match 21-19, 21-14.

Alison Ramirez and Natalya Morales remained undefeated in conference play, improving to 3-0 with a 22-20, 19-21, 15-7 victory on the No. 4 court while the fifth match was forfeited by Rio Hondo.

Ramirez and Morales are 5-1 overall this season with a 4-1 record on the No. 4 court and 3-0 mark in SCC play.

They recorded the only win for the Warriors earlier in the day on Friday in a 4-1 loss to Cerritos.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday at College of the Desert for another conference match.
