TORRANCE, Calif . - The Warriors and Falcons were locked in a pitcher's duel through five innings before the Falcons broke through in the sixth inning with three homeruns to take the series opener over El Camino 6-1 on Tuesday at Warrior Field.
The Warriors were outhitting the Falcons 6-to-1 before the sixth inning but had grounded into four straight inning ending double plays from the second through the fifth inning.
In the top of the sixth inning, Owen Martin opened the scoring after blasting a two-run bomb over the right field fence. Isaiah Rios followed him with another homerun over the right field wall to make it a 3-0 lead for the Falcons. Wyatt Ormonde hit a bomb over the left field fence to put the Falcons up 5-0.
Dylan Mares got one run back on his team leading fifth home run in the seventh inning on a solo shot over the right field wall.
The Falcons added an insurance run in the eighth inning to make it a 6-1 game.
Daniel Craig led the Warriors going 3-for-4 at the dish. Dylan Mares also had a multi-hit game going 2-for-3 at the dish.
Cameron O'Neil pitched six innings allowing five runs on six hits on one walk and struck out five. Nolan Patterson tossed a CG for the Falcons allowing one run on eight hits, one walk, and struck out four.
The series shifts to Cerritos on Thursday. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. at Kincaid Field
