No. 5 Warriors Edged at No. 2 Mount San Antonio

WALNUT, Calif. --- No. 5 El Camino College suffered a 37-27 loss to No. 2 Mt. San Antonio on Saturday night at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif.

The Warriors led by double figures in the second quarter but the No. 2 Mounties ran off 28 straight points in the second quarter to take a double-digit lead of their own by halftime.

The Warriors would cut the deficit back to single digits twice but could not overcome the Mounties in the fourth quarter.

Damonte Bias led the offense with 115 rushing yards on just seven carries including a 71-yard touchdown rush. Latrell Cannon led the defense with a career-high 12 tackles and an interception, his second in as many weeks. Isaac Sandy added seven tackles and Brett James had six in the loss.

The Mounties got 123 rushing yards from Devyn Turner and 109 rushing yards from Aiden Ramos to lead the offense. Quarterback Daunte Bell went 12-22 for 202 passing yards and two touchdowns.

The Warriors will return home on Saturday night to open up National Southern League play against Chaffey at Murdock Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
