Warriors Lead Wire-to-Wire in Win over Porterville

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College never trailed in a 63-47 non-conference victory over visiting Porterville on Wednesday evening at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors scored the first bucket of the game and never looked back, leading by as many as 18 points on Wednesday to secure the victory.

The offense had its best night of the year, shooting a season-best 58.8 percent from the field including 50 percent from beyond the arc.

Kai Johnson led the charge again with 24 points on 5-for-10 shooting including 3-for-5 from distance. He was aggressive all night and went 11-for-11 from the charity stripe.

Jalen Baker provided a spark off the bench for ECC as he scored eight points in eight minutes. George Rand-Shambry led the defense with five of the team's nine steals on the night while Vaitai Tuione and Brandon Chance each recorded two blocked shots.

The Warriors conclude their eight-game homestand to start the year with a 6-2 record. They will hit the road for the first time this season on Friday, Dec. 5 with a South Coast Conference crossover tilt at L.A. City.
