Turnovers cost Warriors Against Compton

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 73-70 South Coast Conference, South Division loss to visiting Compton on Friday evening at the ECC Gym Complex.

Rocco Gaffoglio was outstanding offensively for the Warriors as he scored 27 points on 9-for-18 shooting and 6-for-12 from 3-point range but no other Warriors player was able to log double figures.

Justin Cricri added nine points and Ryder Decena led the team with four assists on a night where ECC dished out 17 assists on 23 made field goals.

The Warriors were better than the Coyotes in most statistical categories on Friday but the turnover margin proved costly as ECC coughed up the ball 20 times which led to 22 Compton points. Meanwhile, the Coyotes only turned it over nine times leading to 10 Warriors points.

Misses at the free-throw line also proved costly for ECC as the Warriors missed 12 free throws while Compton missed just six attempts at the line on a night where both teams converted 16 free throws each.

The Warriors will look to bounce back as they head to Long Beach on Wednesday evening for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
