TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors men's soccer team won in their home opener 2-0 over Norco on Wednesday afternoon at Warrior Field. The Warriors moved to 2-1-1 to start the season.
The Warriors had four shots to open up the game against the Mustangs before the Warriors earned a penalty kick in the 26th minute. Amir Dawkins buried the penalty to put the Wariors up 1-0.
After four yellow cards were issued in the first half, the Warriors went into the halftime break up 1-0.
The Warriors had a breakway stopped in the 69th minute that led to a red card for Norco.
Keima Minagawa put the game away in the 80th minute with his first goal of the season. He took advantage of a Norco defender losing the ball and then dribbled past two Norco defenders and shot it past the Norco goalkeeper to make it a 2-0 game.
For the game, the Warriors outshot Norco 14-to-13 with both teams having five shots on goal
In his first start, Oswaldo Hernandez recorded a clean sheet and made five saves for the game.
The Warriors will remain home in their next game on Tuesday, September 9th against Cypress College. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
