Warriors Defeat Chaffey at Home

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors men's soccer team defeated the No. 20 Chaffey College Panthers 3-0 at home on Friday afternoon at Warrior field.

The No. 3 ranked Warriors moved to 4-1-3 overall for the season.  

The Warriors outshot Chaffey 14-to-7 for the game and had the advantage in corner kicks, 10-to-1.

The Warriors scored their first goal in the 23rd minute.  Juan Tibocha crossed a ball over to Amir Dawkins.  Dawkins played a perfect through ball up to a streaking Joshua Zendejas who one timed a shot over the Chaffey keeper into the far corner to put the Warriors ahead 1-0. 

The Warriors had a 1-0 advantage at halftime, outshooting Chaffey 7-to-2 in the first half.

The Warriors struck early in the second half to to double their advantage. After earning acorner kick, Joshua Zendejas quickly played a ball to Dilan Acevedo. Acevedo curled a ball towards the back post and Kristian Villalobos headed the ball into the back of the net to make it a 2-0 game.

The Warriors put the game away in the 68th minute behind Jaden Hancock's fifth goal of the season. Arsen Mhkitaryan sent a long through ball up to Jaden Hancock. Hancock outmuscled the one Chaffey defender on him and chipped it past the Panthers goalkeeper to make it a 3-0 game.

For the game, Oswaldo Hernandez made three saves and picked up the win as he earned another clean sheet.

The Warriors will host the other No. 3 ranked team in the state in LA Mission on Tuesday, September 23rd. Kick-off is set for 1:30 PM.
