TORRANCE, Calif. --- Joshua Zendejas' goal in the 66th minute proved to be the difference as El Camino College defeated L.A. Harbor 3-2 in a South Coast Conference match on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field.
Zendejas pounced on a loose ball off a free kick by Dilan Acevedo and fired a left-footed strike to the far side to break a 2-2 tie in the 66th minute to secure the victory.
Luis Avelar and Oswaldo Hernandez combined to make two saves in the victory.
With the win, the Warriors have secured a top-4 seed into the upcoming SCC Tournament and will host a match on Friday afternoon with an opponent to be determined.
On Tuesday, the Warriors had to fight off a scrappy L.A. Harbor squad that would not go away.
Gabriel Amaya put the visitors up in the fourth minute on a 35-yard shot that floated its way past Avelar to put ECC in a quick 1-0 hole.
But Jaden Hancock leveled the match one minute later on a header from the spot inside the box off a perfect centering pass from Juan Urrutia.
The Warriors would take the lead on a goal from Juan Tibocha before the end of the half but the Seahawks were awarded a penalty kick in the 59th minute, which Amaya deposited into the net past a diving Hernandez to level things again at 2-2.
