Warriors Defeat Cerritos in SCC Tournament First Round Match Up

TORRANCE, Calif . - The No. 4 El Camino College Warriors men's soccer team defeated the No. 4 Cerritos College Falcons 2-1 in Friday's South Coast Conference Tournament's first round match up at Warrior Field.
The Warriors (12-4-5) picked up the win over the Falcons after drawing with Cerritos on October 21st at their place.
The Warriors outshot the Falcons 20-to-13 for the game. The Warriors also had seven corner kicks to the Falcons three corner kicks.
After a couple chances from both sides in the first half, Nathan Pineda struck first for Cerritos. After latching onto a long diagonal ball, he dribbled past the Warrior defender on a cutback and sent a shot past Luis Avelar to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
However the Falcons lead lasted just four minutes. On a Warrior corner kick, Alexander Salas's ball snuck through the Falcon defense to a wide open Juan Tibocha who shot it into the open net to tie the game at 1-1.
In the second half, the Warriors took the leak five minutes into the half. Joshua Zendejas dribbled down the right sideline and sent a cross to a streaking Jaden Hancock who beat the Falcon's keeper near post to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead.
The Warriors defense was able to hang on for the final 40 minutes to secure the win.
The Warriors advance to the South Coast Conference Semifinals on Monday with an opponent yet to be determined.
