Hancock, Avelar Earn Top Honors as All-Conference Team Announced
TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College placed eight players on the 2025 All-South Coast Conference, South Division team, it was announced this week.
Sophomore Jaden Hancock was named the SCC-South Co-Offensive Player of the Year while Luis Avelar earned SCC Goalkeeper of the Year honors. In addition, the Warriors had three additional players selected to the All-SCC First Team and three chosen for the All-SCC Second Team.
Hancock led the conference with 16 goals scored and 40 total points. He was tied for second in the state in goals scored and tied for fourth overall in total points as the team heads into the postseason.
Avelar made 58 total saves and posted 1.71 goals against average in 16 matches played, all starts. He posted a 6-3-4 overall record with two shutouts in the regular season.
Joshua Zendejas, Kristian Villalobos and Amir Dawkins earned All-SCC First Team selections while Alexander Salas, Nathan Ventura and Brandon Lopez-Huerta were all selected to the All-SCC Second Team.
Zendejas played in all 23 matches for the Warriors during the regular season and made 22 starts. He was third on the team with five goals scored and tied for second with four assists. His 14 total points ranked third on the squad.
Villalobos played and started in 20 matches during the regular season and scored two goals. He anchored the Warriors defense on the back line.
Dawkins was second on the team with eight goals and added three assists during the season. He totaled 19 points, second best on the team. He played in 20 matches, making 17 starts.
Salas was one of the Warriors best reserves as he played in 18 matches with nine starts. He scored one goal and dished out three assists during the season.
Ventura and Lopez-Huerta were crucial pieces of the Warriors defense on the back line with Ventura playing in 22 matches and making 16 starts. He recorded two assists during the season. Lopez-Huerta played in 16 matches with nine starts and also recorded two assists.
The Warriors drew the No. 4 seed in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs and earned a first-round bye. They will host the winner of the Golden West-MiraCosta in the second round. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the ECC Soccer Field.
