TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College wrapped up its 2025 home schedule on Wednesday night with a 3-2 (25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-12) conference loss to Santa Monica at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors honored their sophomores prior to the start of the match, one of them being Garrett Gronbach. The two-year starter for the Warriors led the way offensively and defensively as he had a team-high 15 kills and seven blocks (two solo). Fellow sophomore Luke Chambers led the team with 18 digs in his final home game with ECC.

For the Corsairs, Alen Petraev led the way with 16 kills and 14 digs while Cameron Taylor added 14 kills with 12 digs to lead the charge.

The Corsairs ran away with the opening set but ECC fought back to overcome a five-point deficit in the second to take the set and tie things up 1-1.

In the third, the Corsairs again were the superior team but the Warriors would again dig deep in the fourth to overcome a late deficit, turning a 19-16 disadvantage into a 20-19 lead. The would finish the set on a 5-0 run to send the match to a fifth set.

But for the second straight week, the Warriors could not climb all the way back, falling in the fifth set. The Warriors have lost their last two five-set matches after winning their first five-setter on Feb. 26 against Antelope Valley.

The Warriors will conclude the regular season on Friday night at Long Beach.
