Men’s Volleyball Suffers Reverse Sweep on Friday
TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 3-2 (21-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-17, 15-10) loss to visiting L.A. Pierce on Friday night at the ECC Gym Complex.
The Warriors were one point away from victory but 46 attack errors proved to be too much to overcome in the latter stages of the match as the Brahmas took home the win.
Jordan Jotie recorded 20 kills and 11 digs for a double-double while Ali'i Oglesby had 23 assists, eight digs and three blocks. Nazareth Iosia added 13 kills on a team-best .303 attack percentage.
For the Brahmas, Ryder Tafoya led the way with 19 kills and 13 digs with five blocks. Dev Vunnam added 10 kills and 11 blocks (2 solo) as the Brahmas dominated at the net, recording 33 blocks (four solo).
The Warriors controlled the match early and were up 24-22 in the third with a chance to finish off the sweep but four straight attack errors by the Warriors gave the set to the Brahmas and sent the match into the fourth.
The Brahmas would outhit the Warriors in the final two sets handily and, despite a late run in the fifth set to trim a 13-4 deficit down to just three points, the Brahmas scratched out the final two points to record the win.
The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday when they head to Fullerton for a 6 p.m. first serve.
