Men’s Water Polo Competes at Mt. SAC Tournament

WALNUT, Calif. --- El Camino College headed to the Mount San Antonio Tournament on the weekend and faced some very tough competition including three of the top-10 teams in the state.

No. 1 Golden West 25, WARRIORS 7

The Warriors opened up the tournament against the top-ranked team in the state. Robbie Josic scored four goals for the Warriors and Zane Johnson added two in the loss. Vios Lopez made eight saves.

No. 2 West Valley 22, WARRIORS 7

The day did not get easier as the Warriors took on second-ranked West Valley in the final game on Friday. The Warriors trailed by just three at halftime but a pair of eight-goal quarters by West Valley cemented the result.

Johnson led the team with four goals with Josic, Sawyer Ruth and Alex Bugarin each adding a goal apiece. Cooper Josic finished with three assists.

No. 10 Sierra 13, WARRIORS 4

In the opening match on Saturday, the Warriors offense was stifled by the Wolverines as ECC took on its third straight opponent ranked in the state top-10.

Robbie Josic scored three of the team's four goals and Lopez made six saves.

Southwestern 12, WARRIORS 9

The weekend concluded with the most tightly contested match for the Warriors as the two teams were tied 5-5 at halftime.

But the Jaguars outscored ECC 7-4 in the second half including shutting out the Warriors in the fourth quarter to edge out the win.

Josic and Bugarin each scored three times with Isaiah Garcia scoring two in the loss. Lopez made 14 saves.

The Warriors will take the week off before returning to action on Wednesday, Oct. 1 to take on Chaffey at the ECC Aquatics Center.
