SARATOGA, Calif. --- El Camino College saw its historic 2025 season come to an end with a 4-1 loss to Palomar in an elimination game at the 3C2A State Championships on Saturday afternoon at Viking Field on the campus of West Valley College.
The Warriors led for the first half of the game before the Comets scored four unanswered runs including a three-run sixth to take the lead for good.
The game was a pitchers duel for five innings as each starting pitcher allowed just one run in that span. But the Comets' offense finally broke through in the sixth inning as they loaded the bases on a walk and two singles. Josephine Heuberger then broke through against Warriors' ace Lexi Ramirez with a bases-clearing triple to break the 1-1 tie. She was the only player to log an extra-base hit on either side and was a home run short of hitting for the cycle.
Ramirez would toss her ECC record 29th complete game on Saturday, going six innings an allowing four runs on 10 hits. She walked four and struck out three. The sophomore concluded her career at ECC by setting numerous records including most wins in a season (30), shutouts (12) innings pitched (235.2) and total appearances (41) in a single season in recorded history.
As a team, the 2025 Warriors also set a new single-season record for most wins in a season (39) and were the first team in the program's history to be one of the final four teams left at the 3C2A State Championships.
