TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College logged its ninth straight win to start the season on Thursday afternoon with a 6-0 victory over L.A. Harbor at the ECC Softball Field.
The win moved the Warriors to 9-0 on the season, matching their best start to a season in program history. The team started 9-0 last year en route to a program record 39 wins.
On Thursday, Estrella Tapia pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits while recording four strikeouts to move to 3-0 in the circle this year.
Emma Padilla went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to pace the offense as eight different Warriors recorded at least one hit on the day.
The Warriors would score a pair of runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to break a scoreless tie through three innings. Emily Gamboa hit a sacrifice fly to open the scoring in the fourth and then Miranda Morelos had a pinch-hit RBI single to make it 2-0.
Padilla would blast a two-run double to the wall in right field in the fifth to make it 4-0 and that would be more than enough for Tapia.
The Warriors will look to set a new program record as they vie for their 10th straight win to start the season on Saturday with a tough test against Cypress on the road.
