Warriors Draw Fullerton in Southern California Regional Playoffs

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College will head to the 3C2A postseason for the 11th straight season and will face No. 7 seed Fullerton in the 3C2A SoCal Regionals beginning Friday at Fullerton College.
The Warriors drew the No. 11 seed in Southern California but was slotted in the No. 10 spot to avoid a first-round conference matchup between the No. 7 Hornets and No. 10 Saddleback.
This will be the first meeting between the teams in the postseason since the 2019 season when the Warriors hosted Fullerton in the 3C2A Super Regional round with the Hornets overcoming a game-one loss to take the series in three games at the ECC Softball Field.
The teams will be meeting for the fourth time in the postseason since 2015 and third time in the regional round. The Warriors swept Fullerton in 2015 in the regionals but lost in three to the Hornets in 2016. The 2026 meeting will mark the first time that Fullerton hosts the Warriors in the playoffs during the current 11-year postseason run for the Warriors.
This season, the Hornets swept a doubleheader from the Warriors on Feb. 27 at Fullerton College. The Hornets scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to overcome a late 3-2 deficit and score a 5-3 win in game one while the teams battled to a 10-inning decision in the second game with the Hornets walking off the Warriors on an RBI single by Zoey Bautista in the bottom of the 10th after a leadoff double.
The Warriors finished the regular season with a 26-14 overall record and 15-6 mark in South Coast Conference play to finish tied for third in the conference.
The Hornets finished the year with a 27-13 overall record and 15-6 mark in Orange Empire Conference action, finishing second and just one game back of conference champions Saddleback.
The series will begin Friday at 2 p.m. at Hornet Field. Game two will take place on Saturday at noon with a deciding third game set to start at 2:30 p.m. Saturday if necessary.
The winner of the series will face the winner between No. 2 seed Cerritos and their opponent, which will be determined in the play-in round on Tuesday between No. 15 Orange Coast and No. 18 Ventura.
