Men Sweep Meet at Long Beach City, Women Score Two Wins
LONG BEACH, Calif. --- El Camino College returned to South Coast Conference action on Friday as they headed to Long Beach City College. The men defeated the host Vikings and Chaffey while the women scored wins over East Los Angeles and Chaffey while losing to the hosts.
On the men's side, Alex Thornton and Koichiro Ambe all recorded multiple victories on the day. Thornton scored wins in the 100-yard freestyle (46.74), 100 fly (53.23) and 1000 free (10:34.02).
Ambe scored wins in the 200 fly (2:04.34) and the 500 free (5:16.31).
The relay teams also dominated the day for the men. The squad of Ambe, Marc Bugarin, Thornton and Alex Bugarin won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.05. The 400 freestyle relay team of Gio Wheeler, Alex Bugarin, Ambe and Caden Kendall scored the win with a time of 3:25.14.
On the women's side, the team did not record any individual victories but got a solid outing from Jasmine Eskander. The freshman posted a personal best and placed second in the 200 breastroke (2:44.30) and also finished second in the 200 fly (2:25.04).
