Three Warriors Win Conference Titles at SCC Championships
TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College claimed three individual titles as the Warriors hosted the South Coast Conference Championships finals on Saturday at Murdock Stadium and the ECC Throws Field.
On the men's side, Gunner Perez and Laighton Scott claimed conference titles on Saturday while Jadeyn Skefich claimed the lone women's title on Tuesday in the 10,000 meters.
Perez took first place in the 110 high hurdles, posting a time of 15.21, nearly three tenths better than the runner up. Meanwhile, Scott posted a personal best in the discus, posting a distance of 49.40m (162 feet, 0.75 inches). His throw was more than three meters better than runner-up Jaden Akens of Long Beach City.
On Tuesday during day one of the SCC Championships, Skefich scored the win in the 10,000m with a time of 38:58.48, a new personal best. She was also the only runner to finish the race in under 40 minutes.
Overall, the Warriors' men's team placed fourth with 63 total points. Mount San Antonio claimed first place with 389 points with Cerritos (180) and Long Beach City (68) rounding out the podium.
The Warriors' women placed fifth overall with 52 points. Mt. SAC also won the conference title in the women's competition with 326.5 points. Cerritos (208) and LBCC (115) rounded out the podium.
With the conclusion of the conference championships, the Warriors will now head to the 3C2A Southern California Finals, which are slated to begin with the prelims and a few finals on Saturday, May 2 at Bakersfield College.
