TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors women's soccer team drew 1-1 with the Norco Mustangs at home on Wednesday afternoon at Warrior Field.
The Warriors were on top of Norco at the beginning as Evie Campbell scored three minutes into the match. Julia Camacho raced past the Mustang defense down the right side and sent in a cross to Campbell who finished it off to put the Warriors up 1-0.
The Warriors continued to press for a second goal but then Norco scored a goal out of nothing in the 29th minute. The Norco centerback launched a long ball from the Mustang side of the field that Dianne Ortega raced past the Warrior defense to slot it past the Warriors goalkeeper to make it 1-1.
The Warriors dominated the Mustangs in the second half with a 10-to-2 shot advantage and looked to finally find the late breakthrough in the end of the second half.
The Warriors earned a penalty in the 87th minute but Lily Fulton's penalty shot was saved by the Norco goalkeeper to preserve the 1-1 draw.
The Warriors head to San Bernadino Valley next Friday. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
