TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors women's soccer team picked up their first win of the 2025 season after defeating Moorpark 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Warrior Field.
The Warriors had their best game offensively of the season with 23 shots with 8 shots on goal.
Ashley Perez set the tone for the game by scoring in the first minute of the game. She took advantage of a Raiders defender losing the ball and dribbled through three defenders before shooting the ball to the far post to make it a 1-0 game 22 seconds into the game.
Moorpark found an equalizer five minutes later after some great combination play between their forwards.
Evie Campbell restored the Warriors advantage in the 35th minute. She played a 1-2 combination with Leah Garcia who played a perfect through ball back to her and she beat the keeper to the inside post to make it a 2-1 game.
The Warriors headed into halfitme with the score 2-1 and the shots being tied at 7-7.
However, in the second half the Warriors were all over Moorpark and had a 16-4 shot advantage.
The Warriors were finally rewarded for their efforts when Citlalli Sarahi Sanchez scored a banger from outside the box to the right upper 90 to make it a 3-1 game.
Jordan Stemberga made two saves in net as she picked up her first win of the season.
The Warriors will be on the road next Friday at Ventura before a 4-game homestand beginning next Wednesday. Kick-off is set for 6:00 pm Friday night at Ventura.
