TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-23) loss to No. 9 Santa Barbara on Friday evening at the ECC Gym Complex.
The Warriors (3-4) suffered their second straight home loss to a top-10 opponent after falling to No. 8 Orange Coast on Wednesday evening in a grueling start to their home schedule.
Yasmine Itani led the Warriors offense with eight kills while Amiekal Looney added four kills with one solo block with Justine Sapitanan dishing out 14 assists in the loss.
Bayley Padia led Santa Barbara with 15 kills and 11 digs while Hazel Irvine added 10 kills on 13 swings without an error. Stephanie Groswirt and Morgan Guardado combined for 40 assists on the team's 48 kills.
The Warriors will have a week off before returning to action on Friday, Sept. 12 for the annual El Camino College Tri featuring No. 14 Moorpark and No. 19 Miracosta. The first match is set for 11 a.m. with the Warriors facing Moorpark.
