TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College hosted a pair of top-20 teams in the annual El Camino Tri on Friday at the ECC Gym Complex.
NO. 12 MOORPARK 3, WARRIORS 0
The Warriors fell to No. 12 Moorpark by way of sweep (25-17, 25-17, 25-19). Amiekal Looney led the team with eight kills on 18 swings and Yasmine Itani added seven kills in the loss.
Justine Sapitanan dished out 23 assists and added six digs while Cynthia Nario led the defense with 15 digs.
Juda Washington led the Raiders with 13 kills and Olivia Campisis had 11 in the win.
NO. 20 MIRACOSTA 3, WARRIORS 0
The Spartans fired on all cylinders in the final match of the day as they downed the Warriors in three (25-16, 25-17, 25-20).
The Warriors got eight kills and four blocks from Looney while Justine Sapitanan was an assist shy of a double-double with 15 digs and nine assists.
But the Spartans hammered down 47 kills on the day compared to just 18 for the Warriors in the match. Willow Snow led the way with 17 kills and 19 digs while Mikayla Negrette added 10 kills and seven digs in the win for the Spartans.
The Warriors will head away from the ECC Gym Complex for the next six matches beginning Wednesday at Victor Valley. The Warriors next home game is set for Oct. 10 against L.A. Harbor in a conference match.
