Looney’s Big Week Leads Warriors to Pair of Road Wins

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College got a big week from freshman Amiekal Looney en route to a pair of road wins this week, snapping a four-match losing streak.

WARRIORS 3, VICTOR VALLEY 1 (WEDNESDAY)

Looney had a career night as she hammered down 16 kills with just four errors on 29 attempts for a career-best .414 hitting percentage. She also added three blocks (two solo), five digs and three assists in the win.

Justine Sapitanan dished out 35 assists, her biggest output since she had 42 helpers on Aug. 22 against East Los Angeles in a five-set win. She also added nine digs, one shy of her fourth double-double of the season. Yasmine Itani added 11 kills in the win.

WARRIORS 3, L.A. CITY 0 (FRIDAY)

Looney led the offense and defense again on Friday night as she hammered down nine kills and posted a career-high five blocks (one solo) in the victory.

Alison Ramirez and Itani added six kills apiece and Sapitanan dished out 19 assists. Jerelyn Justo served up five aces, tying her career high that she set at Glendale on Aug. 27.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 24 with a tough test against No. 10 Pasadena on the road. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
