Looney Named CCCWVCA State Player of the Week

CCCWVCA STATE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK - WEEK 9

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College freshman Amiekal Looney was selected as one of the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches' Association (CCCWVCA) Players of the Week, it was announced Monday.

Looney was outstanding in a pair of wins for the Warriors last week, posting consecutive 20-kill performances against Compton and East Los Angeles.

She was nearly perfect on Wednesday against Compton, going for 20 kills with just one error on 34 swings, setting a new career best with a .559 attack percentage. She also added four blocks as the Warriors swept the Coyotes.

On Friday, Looney had a tremendous all-around performance with a career-high 23 kills with a .413 attack percentage to go along with two aces and three blocks as the Warriors edged East L.A. in five sets.

For the week, Looney hit at a .475 clip with 43 total kills, seven blocks and two aces. She is currently second in the South Coast Conference for the season with a 0.83 blocks per set average and fourth in total kills.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday against No. 8 Mt. San Antonio on the road.
