TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 19-10 non-conference loss to L.A. Valley in the 2025 season opener on Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Aquatics Center.

The Warriors hung tight early but the visiting Monarchs pulled away after a close first period to take the win.

Olivia Mozian led the Warriors with three goals with freshman Francesca Pinillos adding two goals in her Warriors' debut. Alyssa Mack dished out two assists to lead the team and Bobbi Waiolama made six saves in her first career start in the cage.

For the Monarchs, Armine Zelveyan led the way with five goals with Alissa Wiggins and Ani Thomassian scoring three apiece in the victory.

The first period was the most competitive of the match as the Monarchs opened with two goals including one on the power play.

But Pinillos notched her first career goal with the Warriors playing a woman up with 4:52 left in the period off a pass from Mack to make it 2-1.

The Monarchs would make it 4-1 before Mozian notched her first goal of the match on a feed from Pinillos to make it 4-2.

But the Monarchs scored a goal on the power play with three seconds left in the first and then followed with the first four goals of the second period to take a commanding 9-2 lead and they never looked back.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17 with their South Coast Conference opener against East Los Angeles at the ECC Aquatics Center at 3 p.m.
