SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- El Camino College played a pair of tournaments in the San Diego area over the weekend, participating in the San Diego Miramar Tournament on Friday and the Jaguar Mini Tournament on Saturday hosted by Southwestern in Chula Vista, Calif.

WARRIORS 15, Southwestern 9

The Warriors opened the S.D. Miramar tournament with their only victory of the weekend. The Warriors jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

Olivia Mozian (5) and Francesca Pinillos (4) accounted for nine of the team's 15 goals with Alyssa Mack and Rileigh Clark scoring two apiece. Carleigh Clark and Bobbie Waiolama combined to make eight saves in the cage for ECC.

A rough second quarter proved to be the difference as the Warriors were outscored 5-1 in the period and trailed 8-3 at halftime. The Warriors would outscore the Comets 7-6 in the second half but the deficit was too big to overcome.

Mozian led the team again with five goals with Mack and Lauren Reed adding two apiece.

It was a tightly contested match and the Warriors led 5-4 in the second period but the Olympians scored three straight goals and outscored ECC 6-1 to take a 10-6 lead.

In the fourth, the Warriors blanked the Olympians and trimmed the deficit to 10-8 with 3:17 left in regulation but the offense could not find another goal as the Warriors dropped their first match of Saturday's action.

Mozian added three more goals and Rileigh Clark scored twice in the loss.

The Warriors wrapped up the weekend against a top-five opponent and the Jets proved too much to handle. The Warriors fell behind 7-3 in the first half but kept things close at halftime, trailing 9-6. The Jets would turn up the offense and defense in the second half, outscoring ECC 14-3 to secure the win.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday afternoon in a South Coast Conference match as they travel to Pasadena for a 3 p.m. start.
