TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College grinded out an 8-5 South Coast Conference victory over visiting Chaffey on Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Aquatics Center.

Olivia Mozian, Lauren Reed and Monica Sanchez accounted for all eight goals for the Warriors to stay unbeaten early in conference play.

Carleigh Clark (8) and Bobbie Waiolama (5) combined for 13 saves with Clark securing the victory in the cage.

The Warriors offense struggled early on as they were shutout for the first seven minutes of action to start the match. Elise Camarena and Sarah Alexander scored for the Panthers to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.

But an exclusion with one minute left in the period gave the Warriors a power play and Monica Sanchez fired her first goal into the back of the net to trim the deficit to 2-1.

Then, with 23 seconds left, Mozian sniped her first goal of the day on an assist from Sanchez to tie things up after one period.

The Warriors would score five straight goals with Reed and Mozian scoring two apiece. The Panthers would add a goal with four seconds left in the second quarter to make it a 5-3 ECC lead at halftime.

In the third, Reed and Mozian scored the first two goals of the period to give the Warriors a 7-3 lead and Sanchez would cap the scoring for ECC with 5:41 left in the fourth.

The Warriors' defense did the rest, forcing Chaffey to fire 12 of their 30 shot attempts off target.

The Warriors will look to start the conference season 3-0 when they travel to Cerritos on Oct. 8.
