NORWALK, Calif. --- El Camino College advanced to the third-place match at the South Coast Conference championships hosted by Cerritos College on Friday.
The Warriors opened the day with an 11-8 win over Chaffey in the first round. Lauren Reed scored four goals to lead the team while Olivia Mozian and Francesca Pinillos added three apiece to power the team to victory. The second period proved to be the difference as the Warriors outscored the Panthers 5-1 including five straight goals to break a 3-3 tie.
In the second match of the day, the Warriors suffered an 18-2 loss to top-seeded Long Beach.
The Warriors will now face Mt. San Antonio on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the third-place match. The Warriors have claimed third place at the SCC Championships the past two seasons, the highest they have ever finished at the SCC Tournament.
