Women’s Water Polo Edged by Mt. SAC in Third-Place Match

NORWALK, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered an 11-10 loss to Mount San Antonio in the third-place match of the South Coast Conference Championships on Saturday at Cerritos College.

The Warriors fell short of claiming third place in the conference for the third straight year in a close contest. Neither team ever led by more than two goals in the match with the Warriors holding a 10-9 lead heading into the final period.

But the offense went dry in the final period for the Warriors as the Mounties got the game-tying goal early in the fourth and then the game-winner came in at the 4:39 mark.

The Warriors had a couple of power plays late in the match but could not find the back of the net to pull even with Mt. SAC.

Olivia Mozian and Francesca Pinillos led the team with three goals apiece while Lauren Reed and Sophia Beghin each added two in the loss.
