Gil Finishes in Second at So Cal Preview Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Manny Gil finished in 2nd place overall at the So Cal Preview Invitational on Friday at Mission Bay Park.  

The #3 ranked Warriors competed in a big field of 28 teams that also featured the top ten ranked teams in the state.  The Warriors finished in fifth place while the #1 ranked SD Mesa won the team event followed by #2 ranked Mt. SAC. American River came in third place, Orange Coast College fourth place, while the Warriors finished in fifth place overall.

Manny Gil came in 2nd place overall in a field of 205 competitors with a time of 21.27.  Bobby Brana of San Diego Mesa won the race with a time of 21:24. Farooq Tariq came in 16th place overall (2nd for the Warriors) with a time of 21:57. Michael Yaskowitz came in 20th place overall (3rd for the Warriors) with a time of 22:05. Christian Moreno came in 70th overall (4th for the Warriors) with a time of 23:18 and Jonathan Cruz came in 80th overall with a time of 23:33 (5th for the Warriors).  Cruz also sprained his ankle during the race.  
Carmen Hernandez competed individually in the women's race.  She came in 40th place overall with a time of 21:53.  

The Warriors will sit this week out and not compete at the Golden West Invitational. They will instead compete again at the Master's Invitational in Santa Clarita on Saturday, September 28th.
