Skefich Records Another Win at Mt. SAC Invitational
WALNUT, Calif. --- Freshman Jadeyn Skefich continued her standout freshman campaign with a victory at the Mount San Antonio Invitational hosted by Mt. SAC on Friday morning.
Skefich bested a field of 65 runners on a three-mile course, the first race of that distance for Skefich this season. All of her other victories came in 5,000 meter courses.
On Friday, she posted a time of 18:18.70 to finish nearly 30 seconds better than runner up Kaitlyn Reyes (18:44.10) of the host Mounties. They were the only two runners to run the course in under 19 minutes.
Ayla Barbosa finished in 14th place with a time of 20:20.20 and Denisse Ocampo placed 51st with a time of 25:08.40. Emily Williams rounded out the Warriors' competitors with a time of 29.09.10.
On the men's side, the team finished fifth overall with 154 points in a 10-team field. Mt. SAC (20), Hartnell (47) and Sequoias (98) rounded out the top three in the team competition.
Nathaniel Lincourt paced the Warriors with a 27th-place finish on the four-mile course with a time of 23:14.70. Doyun Kim was close behind in 29th with a time of 23:20.00.
The Warriors will now take a break and return to action on Halloween; Friday, Oct. 31, for the South Coast Conference Championships hosted by Mt. SAC.
