Warriors Take Memorial Cup in Opening Series Sweep

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors baseball completed the series sweep over Orange Coast College after winning the series finale 10-0 at home.  

The Warriors won the first game of the series 11-5 and the second game of the series, 13-10.

Cameron O'Neil tossed six scoreless frames in his first outing of the season and allowed just one hit and fanned six batters. Jett Lim tossed two scoreless innings of relief and Kona Agena tossed a scoreless frame in the final inning. 

The Warriors pounded out 12 hits against the Pirates. Dylan Mares went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Nathan Rivera went 2-for-3 with 1 run and 1 RBI and Dane Rhodes went 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs.

The Warriors scored three in the second inning. Dylan Mares led the inning off with a base hit, Nathan Rivera doubled over the left fielder's head to put two runners on. Kai Nagashima walked to load the bases with two outs. Dane Rhodes tripled down the RF line to clear the bases.

The Warriors pounded out five runs in the third inning. They loaded the bases from three straight knocks from Slater Nunez, Gil Solis, and Dylan Marres. The first came across from a sac fly from Nathan Rivera. Caden Lewis singled in one run to make it 5-0.  

Dylan Garcia was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Kevin Nagashima singled in a run to make it 7-0. Nolan Fox capped off the scoring with a sac fly to make it 8-0. The Warriors added one run in the fifth inning on a passed ball and their final run in the sixth inning behind Dylan Mares first home run of the season.

The Warriors will play a two game set with Ventura College over the weekend. They head to Ventura on Friday before hosting the Pirates on Saturday. First pitch set is for 12:00 p.m.
