O'Neil Tosses Gem as Warriors Take Opening Game vs Long Beach

TORRANCE, Calif. - Cameron O'Neil tossed 8 shutout innings against the Long Beach City College Vikings in a pitchers a duel that saw the Warriors win the opening game, 5-0.

Outside of the Warriors scoring one run on a sac fly in the 5th inning, both pitchers were tossing zeroes on the board until the 8th inning.

After Cameron O'Neil got through 8 innings in 99 pitches, Dylan Proost was trying to do the same for the Vikings until the wheels fell off in the 8th inning. He hit Nolan Fox to start the inning before Caden Lewis singled through the right side and Slater Nunez had a bunt single to load the bases with no outs.

The Vikings went to a relief pitcher and he walked Dylan Mares to bring in a a run, Nathan Rivera had a base hit that brought in a run, Daniel Craig was hit by a pitch to bring in another, and Dane Rhodes brought in the fourth run of the inning on a fielder's choice.

O'neil picked up his fourth win of the season after tossing eight scoreless innings and allowing six huts, zero walks, and striking out six. Gavin Sanchez tossed a 1-2-3 inning in the ninth.

The Warriors had six hits for the day with Caden Lewis, Slater Nunez, Gil Solis, Dylan MAres, Nathan Rivera, and Dane Rhodes all picking up knocks.

The Warriors head to Long Beach on Thurday to go for the series win before returning home on Saturday to Warrior Field. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
