Warriors Drop First Game of Series to Mt. Sac

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors dropped the first game of the series to Mt. Sac in a 8-5 loss at home on Tuesday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The Mounties had one big inning that gave them an unsurmountable lead for the Warriors to come back into the game.

Both starters lasted only five innings and each threw over 100 pitches. Cameron O'Neil went 5 innings and allowed six runs on seven hits, four walks, and struck out seven. Tomas Bilvado allowed four runs on six hits, one walk, and struck out six.

Ryan Castro gave the Mounties the lead in the first inning after a solo blast to LF. The Warriors got the run back in the bottom half. Caden Lewis singled with two runners on through the left side of the field to score one to keep it a 1-1 game.

The Mounties would struck for five runs in the fithi nning. They scored their first run in the inning after Ryan Castro doubled in a run to make it a 2-1 game. They loaded the bases with one out on a base hit and a walk. They got another run on a sac fly to left field to make it a 3-1 game. A walk extended the inning to load the bases for Hudson Karczynski who hit a bases clearing double to the left center gap to make it 6-1.

El Camino got three runs back in the bottom of the inning. Kai Nagashima and Nolan Fox singled to star tthe inning. Slater Nunez brought one runner in on a RBI knock to center and Dylan Mares roped one down the first base line for a double to bring in two runs and make it a 6-4 game.

The Mounties added two more insurance runs in the seventh inning as Hudson Karcynski once again doubled to left field to bring in a run and Mario Cuadros followed him with a RBI single to make it 8-4.

The Warriors got one run back in the eighth inning as Nathan Rivera launched a solo blast over the LF fence to make it 8-5.

The Warriors had the first two men reach base in the bottom of the ninth as they attempted a comeback. But after that, the Mounties switched to Juan Verduzco on the bump and he got the next three Warriors out to preserve the win for the Mounties.

The series heads to Mt. Sac on Thursday. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
